Nature vs Nuture

At Woollahra Dental Practice we would like to share this video about findings from Courtney Griffins after working as a geneticist and experiencing giving birth to identical twins. Epigenetics impact our lives and each one of our body cells. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED conferences. Because we want to understand what genes are required for blood vessel development, Courtney Griffin studies certain enzymes that help turn genes on and off. These enzymes are specifically involved in relaxing DNA that is normally tightly coiled up in our cells.

Fermented Foods and Beverages Video

At Woollahra Dental we would like to share sources about fermented foods and beverages. From Culture for life, Australian chef  Pete Evans shows an interesting take on fermented vegetables. His approach to natural probiotics and the importance in the whole body health is part of we share . Culture For Life | Pete Evans - The Paleo Way   from   Kitsa Yanniotis   on   Vimeo . "The fermentation process not only enhances the flavour and aroma of food, but also has a large number of health benefits. They’re nutrient dense, enzyme rich and the jars make fermenting at home a safe, easy and reliable process to do-it-yourself!..." At Woollahra Dental we believe in educating and encouraging everyone to give cultured food a try and rea...

Diaphragmatic Breathing Technique

At  Woollahra Dental Practice  we realise that the oral cavity is not treated separately from the rest of the body. Our field is linked in many ways to whole body health. Breathing is essential for all our body functions. We would like to share a diaphragmatic breathing technique: Breathe in slowly and deeply so that you feel your belly rise under your hand. You may also notice your lower rib cage move wide under your other hand – remember the focus is upon keeping the upper chest muscles relaxed and using the diaphragm to breathe. This technique can be cued by thinking to “breathe into the belly”. Breathe out by letting the rib cage fall back to resting. You should feel a gentle rise and fall of your belly under your hand. www.woollahradental.com Our Mission is to work in partnership with our patients, team members and other health practitioners to provide a holistic approach to dental care. We serve our patients with compassion, excellence and value. We...
